How to Learn


A friend of mine, Ryan, recently talked about learning – specifically that there are two ways to learn:

1. By experience

2. By observation

Ryan brought up slamming a hand between a car door and a car. Ouch, right? Now, with option 1, a person gets their hand caught, it hurts, bones break, sad times. It’s effective – but not always imperative for learning.

With option #2, one could observe their friend’s hand getting caught and the pain and swear words their friend utters. Also effective – with no first-hand pain 🙂

The most important thing is that we’re learning. Experience, observe, I don’t care. But take notes, learn along the way, grow, and educate others. That is leadership behavior!
